The bad news is that the device will probably be delayed to launch alongside the iPhone 15 series in September, according to Ming-Chi Kuo’s most recent report on the Apple MR headset. The headset is having software problems, according to Kuo, and it is becoming less likely that it will be released this spring. No details have been provided regarding the nature of the aforementioned software issues, but it appears that the predicted WWDC launch is currently improbable.
With mass production of the Apple MR headset scheduled for the first half of this year, Luxshare ICT of China is expected to be the industry leader in manufacturing. Recent reports suggest that Apple might call its MR headset the Reality Pro when it launches. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman estimates that the device might cost up to $3,000 and that it will probably run its own version of the xrOS operating system.
The second-generation Apple MR headset, scheduled to be released in 2025, also received some preliminary information from Kuo. It will apparently be available in two versions, one that is more reasonably priced and created by Foxconn, and the other that is more expensive and made by Luxshare once more.
