The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has revealed that it would introduce a new operating system dubbed HyperOS. The new operating system will make its debut on the next Xiaomi 14 series and eventually take the place of MIUI, Xiaomi’s present Android-based OS.
under a tweet sent today, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun revealed that HyperOS is under development. The new operating system, according to him, will make its formal debut on the Xiaomi 14 series, marking a “historic moment” for the business.
Alvin, Xiaomi’s worldwide VP, also affirmed that HyperOS will launch in 2024 and be accessible everywhere. This indicates that the 13-year-old MIUI operating system from Xiaomi would eventually be replaced with the new OS.
According to reports, HyperOS has been in development since 2017 and is created to support the extensive line of Xiaomi goods, which includes smartphones, smart home appliances, and automobiles. According to the firm, the new OS would integrate its whole ecosystem of goods, enabling consumers to more easily operate and manage all of their devices from a single location.
In a post on Weibo, Lei Jun further clarified that HyperOS is “based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture, and preparing a public base for the Internet of Everything for tens of billions of devices and tens of billions of connections in the future.” The open-source embedded operating system NuttX is the foundation of the IoT software system platform Xiaomi Vela.
Xiaomi is anticipated to provide additional information when it introduces the Xiaomi 14 series later this month, despite the fact that the firm has not yet provided any photographs or specifics regarding the HyperOS user interface or functionality.
