The Basic and Premium membership options offered by Netflix in the US, UK, and France will now cost more, the company revealed today. The increased rates will go into effect right now.
In the US, the monthly cost of the Basic plan has increased to $11.99 from $9.99, while the monthly cost of the Premium plan has increased to $22.99 from $19.99. Netflix’s $6.99 ad-supported plan and $15.49 Standard tier will continue to be priced at the same amounts.
Note that Netflix no longer provides the Basic plan to new users in the US; nevertheless, price increases will still apply to current users.
In the UK and France, the ad-supported and Standard plans continue to be unaltered, while the costs of the Basic and Premium plans are going up. The Basic and Premium plans in France will now cost €10.99 and €19.99, respectively, while in the UK they will now cost £7.99 and £17.99, respectively.
During its third-quarter 2023 earnings call, Netflix revealed the pricing increases. 8.8 million new members were recruited, according to the firm, compared to 2.4 million in the same period last year. Its sales increased from $7.9 billion to $8.54 billion in the previous year.
