According to reports, Google is releasing the Google Photos App’s RAW photo backup capability. The iOS and Android applications are already starting to roll out the new functionality. Professional photographers utilize RAW photographs, which are raw and include more details, to grade or better edit their shots.
Due to the widespread support provided by the corresponding camera applications, RAW photos on smartphones have become the norm these days. The RAW photos are automatically uploaded to the Google Cloud using the Google Photos app, unlike in the past. The message “Google Photos brings Ability to backup Raw Images” surfaced within the program.
On the Photos, a special RAW picture badge is displayed. But as of right now, the Pixel 8 series is the only device to have the capability; the Pixel Fold and other devices do not. The specifics of the new features, availability, and compatibility are yet unknown despite any public statements from Google.
To prevent the Photos app from sending RAW files to Google Storage, there are no options or adjustments available. There is still no resolution even after selecting Storage from the Photos Preference > Backup > Backup Quality menu. The 15GB of free storage that is offered will undoubtedly be rapidly filled by the RAW photos. Only photographers who use it for commercial work should really consider it.
