In an attempt to meet the growing demand from wealthy Chinese families and business visitors looking for cars with roomy interiors, Great Wall Motor (GWM) debuted the Wey Gaoshan MPV, their newest model. The Gaoshan series, which means “high mountain” in Chinese, was introduced on October 18. It is GWM’s first foray into the multipurpose vehicle market. This action places GWM in opposition to rivals like BYD’s Denza D9 and other notable MPV market participants in response to the market’s rising desire for bigger cars.
The enormous 5405 mm body length and 3275 mm wheelbase of the Gaoshan MPV, now available in an Executive Extended Edition, are noteworthy features. This six-seater layout, which measures 3823 mm in length, offers a spacious cabin that was designed with business travelers in mind. The Gaoshan extended edition offers unmatched comfort and spaciousness, surpassing popular models like the Mercedes-Benz V260L, Denza D9, Buick GL8 Century, Hongqi HQ9, Zeekr 009, Toyota Alphard, and Lexus LM.
The Gaoshan MPV’s innovative DHT plug-in hybrid system, which combines an electric motor with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, powers the vehicle’s undercarriage. With an amazing overall power output of 358 kW, this powertrain produces 115 kW from the engine and an extra 135 kW from the back axle electric motor. A 37.96 kWh ternary lithium battery pack powers the car, providing a 175 km CLTC pure electric driving range.
Inside, the Gaoshan Executive Extended Edition provides an opulent experience with two displays, fully motorized chairs that can be adjusted for temperature and ventilation, and a high-end Harman Kardon 20-speaker sound system. Additionally, the car has cutting-edge voice interface technology that improves driving in general.
On the other hand, the conventional Gaoshan MPV can fit a 7-seater arrangement (2+2+3) with its dimensions of 5045/1960/1900 mm and a 3085 mm wheelbase. Notably, the third-row seat cushion height is 350 mm, and the second row offers a maximum legroom of 1166 mm, making the trip comfortable and roomy for all passengers. To maximize baggage capacity, the third row is also easily foldable.
Even with its amazing qualities, the Gaoshan’s long body length can be problematic in cities, especially when it comes to parking. But its unparalleled interior volume and cutting-edge technologies make it a serious competitor in the cutthroat MPV market.
