The all-electric BMW iX2, which appears to redefine what it means to be a small Sports Activity Coupe (SAC), has just been unveiled by the automaker. This second-generation model, in contrast to its predecessor, is more than simply a gorgeous face or a showy moniker; it is a vehicle designed for the contemporary driver who demands both economy and power.
The iX2 has a 64.8 kWh battery that supports multiple charging methods
Let’s discuss figures. The iX2 is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces a powerful 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet of torque. However, its mileage is what really distinguishes it. The iX2’s range with a fully charged 64.8 kWh battery is 259–279 miles. With a maximum range of 272 miles, the iX1’s brother has a little advantage.
However, it’s not only about the distance; speed is also important. The iX2 has a peak speed of 111 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 5.6 seconds. It’s obvious that BMW wants this car to be viewed as athletic and adventurous as well as a sensible option for those who care about the environment.
The possibilities for charging are likewise varied. Using the normal onboard AC charger, it takes around six and a half hours to completely charge the iX2. Do we need to move more quickly? A 22-kW three-phase AC charger that is optional will complete the task in less than four hours. For individuals who need to charge quickly, DC fast charging can go from 0 to 80% in just 29 minutes.
The inside is equally impressive. Dual-zone automated temperature control with a heat pump is among the standard amenities, as is a music system with six speakers and an amplifier. This, together with optional BMW Operating System 9 and cloud-based GPS navigation, makes for a futuristic car that is jam-packed with technology.
BMW’s Regensburg plant in Germany will shortly begin producing cars, and sales to Europe could start in March 2024. There is currently no information about a release in the United States, so fans in that country may have to wait a while.
