The OnePlus 12—the company’s upcoming flagship device—will be on sale in the coming months. It is anticipated that this new phone will include the forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Furthermore, there are reports that suggest OnePlus may be working on the OnePlus Watch 2, a new flagship wristwatch.
Max Jambor, a well-known tipster, recently tweeted a clue about a potential wristwatch from the company. According to the leaker, the OnePlus Watch 2 will be released in 2024 and would have a circular form like its predecessor. Though the operating system OnePlus will choose is yet unknown, rumors on the internet suggest that this time it will be based on WearOS.
Many of you may be familiar with the first OnePlus Watch, which debuted back in 2021. When it first appeared, the tech community was vibrating with excitement, but as soon as people discovered that the OnePlus Watch was nothing more than a glorified smart band operating on a bespoke RTOS, the excitement swiftly cooled.
The firm had to stop selling the watch in 2022 because of how poorly it was selling. It would make sense to integrate a WearOS-based operating system given their track record. Because Oppo smartwatches are regarded as some of the best Android smartwatches available, internet users are also hoping that Oppo would help with the software polish.
If the company decides to use Wear OS, it will probably be the most recent version, WearOS 4, which was released in May and is currently present on the Pixel Watch 2 and Samsung smartwatches. A number of exciting features, like Dynamic Theming, Tiles, splash screen, and others, are present in the new OS.
